Key responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Goods-in Lead and wider operational teams to ensure the efficient movement and handling of goods and materials.
  • Deliver goods to customers and collect goods and materials from suppliers as required.
  • Carry out daily checks of company vehicles and report any faults, defects or maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure all relevant UK driving legislation and company driving requirements are adhered to at all times.
  • Load and unload vehicles safely and efficiently, using appropriate equipment where required.
  • Pick and pack customer orders accurately.
  • Receive, check and move goods and materials within the workshop and designated storage areas.
  • Assist with perpetual and static stock taking, ensuring stock records are accurate and up to date.
  • Operate forklift trucks and other relevant workshop equipment safely and competently.
  • Assist with general workshop upkeep, including maintaining clean, tidy and organised work areas.
  • Ensure goods, materials and equipment are stored safely and appropriately.
  • Maintain a high standard of housekeeping within the workshop and goods handling areas.
  • Complete any other reasonable duties as requested by the Goods-in Lead or management.

Required skills

  • Full UK driving licence and the ability to drive a long-wheelbase van.
  • Qualified and competent to operate relevant forklift trucks.
  • Good understanding of and commitment to safe working practices.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Good standard of numeracy and ability to accurately check quantities, goods and stock.
  • Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work independently and use initiative.
  • Proactive, reliable and flexible approach to work.
  • Ability to act in the best interests of both the customer and the company.
  • Previous experience within a workshop, warehouse, logistics or engineering environment would be advantageous.
